The Juan Lindo elementary school in the village town of Juticalpa, Roatan is a small, five-classroom school that was without electricity to four of the classrooms.
9 Star Foundation learned that the metal roofs of the classrooms, which had no insulation, created such heat from the sun that classes had to be held outdoors in the afternoon. Four classrooms were in desperate need of lights and fans. The fifth classroom had such a low metal ceiling that only insulation and air-conditioning could remedy the situation.
In four of the classrooms, 9 Star Foundation provided the means for labor and material to provide electricity, thereby, we installed lights, fans, switches, and outlets to the classrooms.
For the fifth classroom, we provided the insulation, the wallboard, and a wall air conditioner. The children are now able to sit in their classrooms with conditions suitable for adequate learning.
