Shining Star Clinic provides free basic medical care for children living in and around the struggling hillside community of Isla Bonita.

Dr. Elham Mandegari M.D. (Team Member) is the motivating force behind Shining Star Clinic. She is a Pediatrician with a degree in infectious diseases. She has dedicated most of her career working for the main Public Hospital of Honduras that provides medical care to low-income children. Her expertise includes establishing programs for infection prevention of children with cancer, and in coordinating a clinic for children with HIV/AIDS. She has recently moved to Roatan and is committed to donating her time to Shining Star Clinic and to establishing a long-term program for the adequate health care of the children of Roatan.

Shining Star Clinic is a non-profit pediatric clinic operated by a dedicated team of volunteers: a pediatrician, a pharmacist, and an auxiliary nurse; all devoted to provide healthcare to the low income families of Roatan.

Services provided include:

Free medical care for children and free medications

Programs for growth and development.

Education programs in healthcare and prevention for parents and children.
